Large vignette of rampant lion with ‘Bombazeens & Crapes’ below. Bombazeen was a twill fabric of silk or rayon warp with worsted filling, often dyed black and used for mourning. The sign is recorded in ‘London Signs’ at this address between 1764 and the 1790s. Good condition, creased.
