Double-sided printed notification from the Custom House, London, to the Collector in Weymouth signed by C. Scovell reproducing letter from Charles Mackenzie, Consul in Vera Cruz written from Xalapa on 15th November 1824 re death of three individuals in Alvarado. Mr Crawford, formerly of Lisbon arrived with his partner, Mr Martin, four clerks and two servants but three died within a fortnight and another is not expected to live. Vera Cruz and Alvarado may be considered the graves of at least four fifths of those unfortunate Europeans who may be compelled to remain there for even a few weeks. Paper watermarked crowned Britannia. Good condition, small faults in margins.
