Entire letter from Tod & Romanes, Great Stuart Street, Edinburgh, to Alexander Stirling of Criagbarnet at Kirkintulloch re potential bad debt owed by Sir James Baird of £1,166 13/4 (about £100,000 in today’s money) and although William Inglis W.S. is bound for the regular payment of interest he is sequestered & has left the country. ‘Sir James’ circumstances are reported to be very low and his debts considerable’. A Lennoxtown Penny Post mark was applied in blue in transit and a Kirkintulloch namestamp on arrival. The paper watermaked ‘G & R Turner 1827’. Good condition, folded
