Henry Vizard made the land available for St Mark’s to house the poor of the parish, consecrated on 16th April 1844. “The Tower is not yet built for want of funds” and only a small spire was ever constructed. Inside the letter is pasted the image from a sheet of note paper by Rock & Co of Dursley from Stinchcombe Hill dated 1853.
