HA 36 - Letter Paper of Selby with train crossing the Ouse published by J. & F. Harwood, London.

£0.00

Although apparently depicting a train crossing the Ouse, the bascule bridge built in 1840 to link Selby and Hull is not depicted, perhaps because its more utilitarian design spoilt the view. “This is a big, bustling town, wherein the late Edward Petre held considerable property - its name of Selby is worn in Northumberland by one of our old Catholic families. For a place of its size Selby lies very much out of the way of ordinary travel”.
