Description

A typical 18th century ms inn receipt with a finely engraved heading of a crowned bull’s head with decorative surround of grapes and scrolling printed for Foster – this emblem is popular in the county as the badge of the Earls of Huntingdon c. 1780 ** (some ageing but rare)

Description

Ms invoice with finely engraved vignette of three swans by Vale & Baldwin of Birmingham, most unusually with embossed frame, printed for William Carr. Originally known as the Swan the name changed in about 1790 when a spectacular inn sign was erected – the “Telegraph” coach changed horses this inn ***
