Description

Ms invoice with large crown at head printed for Thomas Ayres signed by the Mayor of Rochester as authority for payment by the Chamberlain and receipted with the landlord’s signature. Queen Elizabeth I, King Charles I and William Hogarth all stayed here; it was demolished in the 1850s. ** (grubby and split on folds but an early date and an unusually large vignette)
